SpongeBob blanket (crochet). How would you personally go about changing colors for the details?

For a SpongeBob project: colors yellow, brown, and white shouldn’t be a problem changing. But when it comes to the black for the eyes(amongst other colors), there are some rows where you only need one and two stitches of certain colors.
I’m just wondering how you personally would do it?
I dont want the back to look messy in places where the colors are changed/carried over.
