Temporal Artery

Taking newborns temperature?
I just had my son 6 days ago and he had his first doctors appt. on friday (everything was good) but he proceeded to tell me if he gets a temperature under 6weeks it could be menigitis which I am someone who worries alot and so of course now I’m extremely worried. Everytime he feels warm to me now I’m freaking out and trying to take his temperature with the ear themoter but I dont believe its accurate and its causing me lots of anxiety. I tried rectal and about 4minutes of waiting for a reading my son lost control of his bowl movements and was extremely uncomfortable. My doctor used though a temporal artery scanning themoter the other day and I’m thinking about going to purchase one myself. Does anyone know if there accurate and any advice because I’m really stressing myself out about it.
id he runs a fever it doesnt nessesarily mean he has spinal meningitis. my son is 2 months old. he had episodes where he stopped breathing and finally after 3 episodes, he was diognosed with meningitis and rhinovirus. if he run a fever dont automatically assume he has it. and depending on what meningitis he has depends on how bad it is, viral means either herpes or common cold and bacterial is worse. but dont worry. just keep an eye on him, good luck and congrats

Temporal Bone Dissection Manual $170 In this beautiful atlas, Cor Cremers and Jef Mulder have put together the knowledge and experience gained in four decades of practicing and teaching microsurgical procedures. To be able to teach the basic approaches of modern temporal bone surgery using only one temporal bone represents a masterly performance. Since the number of temporal bones available for dissection is becoming progressively scarce, it is clear that the authors have turned a need into a great virtue. The precise text and the splendid illustrations are also an expression of the authors' special talent in conveying essential surgical information in its most concise form. The first seven chapters describe conventional middle era surgical interventions. The following nine chapters deal with surgical procedures involving the complex anatomy of the medial part of the temporal bone.Since the late sixties, the development of lateral skull base surgery has widened the horizon of middle ear surgery. Important medial structures of the temporal bone, such as the jugular bulb, facial nerve, internal carotid artery and middle and posterior fossa dura, which were previously considered untouchable, have changed from enemies to reliable friends. However, the transformation of middle ear into temporal bone surgery requires precise knowledge of the anatomical landmarks, permitting adequate handling of the most hidden structures of the temporal bone. This atlas accomplishes with admirable ease the difficult task to acquaint the inexperienced otologist with the surgical strategies needed to carry out safely the most relevant procedures of temporal bone surgery. The experienced otologist will also find valuable hints on how to solve special problems of his daily work. These goals are reached through the great experience and the admirable didactic skill of the authors. There is no doubt that the atlas will find the success that it deserves. |

Artery $135.42 Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart. All arteries, with the exception of the pulmonary and umbilical arteries, carry oxygenated blood. The circulatory system is extremely important for sustaining life. Its proper functioning is responsible for the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to all cells, as well as the removal of carbon dioxide and waste products, maintenance of optimum pH, and the mobility of the elements, proteins and cells of the immune system. In developed countries, the two leading causes of death, myocardial infarction and stroke each may directly result from an arterial system that has been slowly and progressively compromised by years of deterioration. Radial Artery $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In human anatomy, the radial artery is the main blood vessel, with oxygenated blood, of the lateral aspect of the forearm. The radial artery arises from the bifurcation of the brachial artery in the cubital fossa. It runs distally on the anterior part of the forearm. There, it serves as a landmark for the division between the anterior and posterior compartments of the forearm, with the posterior compartment beginning just lateral to the artery. The artery winds laterally around the wrist, passing through the anatomical snuff box and between the heads of the first dorsal interosseous muscle. It passes anteriorly between the heads of the adductor pollicis, and becomes the deep palmar arch, which joins with the deep branch of the ulnar artery. Facial Artery $60.54 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The facial artery (external maxillary artery in older texts) is a branch of the external carotid artery that supplies structures of the face. The facial artery arises in the carotid triangle from the external carotid artery a little above the lingual artery and, sheltered by the ramus of the mandible, passes obliquely up beneath the digastric and stylohyoid muscles, over which it arches to enter a groove on the posterior surface of the submandibular gland. It then curves upward over the body of the mandible at the anteroinferior angle of the masseter; passes forward and upward across the cheek to the angle of the mouth, then ascends along the side of the nose, and ends at the medial commissure of the eye, under the name of the angular artery. This vessel, both in the neck and on the face, is remarkably tortuous: in the former situation, to accommodate itself to the movements of the pharynx in deglutition; and in the latter, to the movements of the mandible, lips, and cheeks. Obturator Artery $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The obturator artery passes anteroinferiorly (forwards and downwards) on the lateral wall of the pelvis, to the upper part of the obturator foramen, and, escaping from the pelvic cavity through the obturator canal, it divides into both an anterior and a posterior branch. In the pelvic cavity this vessel is in relation, laterally, with the obturator fascia; medially, with the ureter, ductus deferens, and peritoneum; while a little below it is the obturator nerve. Inside the pelvis the obturator artery gives off iliac branches to the iliac fossa, which supply the bone and the Iliacus, and anastomose with the iliolumbar artery; a vesical branch, which runs backward to supply the bladder; and a pubic branch, which is given off from the vessel just before it leaves the pelvic cavity. Central Artery $86.03 The Central Artery, officially the John F. Fitzgerald Expressway, is a section of freeway in downtown Boston, Massachusetts, designated as Interstate 93, U.S. Route 1 and Route 3. It was initially constructed in the 1950s as a partlyelevated and partlytunneled divided highway. Now, however, it is mostly made up of tunnels that were built during a tenyear period from the mid 1990s to the early 2000s as part of the Big Dig (Central Artery/Tunnel) project. The former route of the above ground Artery was known locally as the other Green Monster, a reference to a famous part of the citys Fenway Park baseball stadium, due to the paint color of its girders and its disruption of previously uninterrupted passage between Boston neighborhoods. The structure was replaced mostly by open space known formally as the Rose Kennedy Greenway. According to Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation data, the Fitzgerald Expressway runs from the Massachusetts Avenue Connector just beyond Andrew Square in South Boston north to the split with U.S. Route 1 in Charlestown. Along with the harbor tunnels and the Turnpike from Route 128 to East Boston, it is part of the Metropolitan Highway System. Temporal Lobe $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The temporal lobe is a region of the cerebral cortex that is located beneath the Sylvian fissure on both cerebral hemispheres of the mammalian brain. The temporal lobe is involved in auditory perception and is home to the primary auditory cortex. It is also important for the processing of semantics in both speech and vision. The temporal lobe contains the hippocampus and plays a key role in the formation of longterm memory. The superior temporal gyrus includes an area (within the Sylvian fissure) where auditory signals from the cochlea (relayed via several subcortical nuclei) first reach the cerebral cortex. This part of the cortex (primary auditory cortex) is involved in hearing. Adjacent areas in the superior, posterior and lateral parts of the temporal lobes are involved in highlevel auditory processing. Temporal Data & the Relational Model $78.95 Temporal database systems are systems that provide special support for storing, querying, and updating historical and/or future data. Current DBMSs provide essentially no temporal features at all, but this situation is likely to change soon for a variety of reasons; in fact, temporal databases are virtually certain to become important sooner rather than later, in the commercial world as well as in academia. This book provides an in-depth description of the foundations and principles on which those temporal DBMSs will be built. These foundations and principles are firmly rooted in the relational model of data; thus, they represent an evolutionary step, not a revolutionary one, and they will stand the test of time. This book is arranged in three parts and a set of appendixes: * Preliminaries: Provides a detailed review of the relational model, and an overview of the Tutorial D language. * Laying the Foundations: Explains basic temporal data problems and introduces fundamental constructs and operators for addressing those problems. * Building on the Foundations: Applies the material of the previous part to issues of temporal database design, temporal constraints, temporal query and update, and much more. * Appendixes: Include annotated references and bibliography, implementation considerations, and other topics. Key features: * Describes a truly relational approach to the temporal data problem. * Addresses implementation as well as model issues. * Covers recent research on new database design techniques, a new normal form, new relational operators, new update operators, a new approach to the problem of “granularity,” support for “cyclic point types,” and other matters. * Includes review questions and exercises in every chapter. * Suitable for both reference and tutorial purposes. |

Inductive Temporal Logic Programming $216.67 We study the extension of techniques from Inductive Logic Programming (ILP) to temporal logic programming languages. Therefore we present two temporal logic programming languages and analyse the learnability of programs from these languages from finite sets of examples. In first order temporal logic the following topics are analysed: How can we characterize the denotational semantics of programs? Which proof techniques are best suited? How complex is the learning task? In propositional temporal logic we analyse the following topics: How can we use well known techniques from model checking in order to refine programs? How complex is the learning task? In both cases we present estimations for the VCdimension of selected classes of programs. Manual of Temporal Bone Dissection $50 The temporal bone is an anatomical jewel box of extraordinary complexity. Both the minuscule scale of its vital structures and their convoluted three-dimensional relationships make microsurgery of this region one of the most technically demanding of all operative endeavours. Unravelling the mysteries of temporal bone anatomy is the foremost challenge faced by every otologist. The goal of achieving perfect knowledge and facility will never be achieved. No matter how experienced a surgeon becomes, ongoing study of the finer points of temporal bone anatomy (observed both in the operating room and dissection laboratory) serves to maintain and improve his or her skill.  Dr Barbara has produced a highly useful Manual of Temporal Bone Dissection to guide exploration of the temporal bone. Its stepwise approach will prove useful for both the novice otologist and the experienced surgeon seeking to refresh his or her knowledge. Its orientation upon specific surgical procedures, rather than pure anatomy, enhances its utility for the practising surgeon. This written resource is an essential element of the three components needed for a high quality surgical dissection course: a lucid manual (such as that authored by Dr Barbara), informative didactic sessions, and anatomical dissection proctored by expert microsurgeons. The team at ‘La Sapienza’ are to be congratulated for their efforts in producing an outstanding educational programme.   |

Temporal Anti Aliasing $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Temporal antialiasing seeks to reduce or remove the effects of temporal aliasing, which results from insufficient sampling. A common example of temporal aliasing in film is the appearance of vehicle wheels travelling backwards, the socalled wagonwheel effect. In computer graphics and special effects, temporal antialiasing is usually done by analogy with motion blur on real footage shot using video or film cameras. Moving images are usually sampled (recorded) and played back at 2460Hz. A single frame will often exhibit streaking because the scene is not usually static for the duration of the exposure. Shorter exposure times give less streaking. In effect, the exposure time of the device allows it to take many more samples and combine these optically to reduce the temporal resolution and hence reduce the information storage requirements. Modeling Temporal Progression in Mandarin Chinese $189.58 This book discusses how to determine temporal relations between sentences with aspect markers in a discourse in Mandarin Chinese. The author examines the four aspect markers in Mandarin Chinese: the progressive zai, the durative zhe, the perfective le and the experiential guo. Following Segmented Discourse Representation Theory, which proposes that temporal relations are determined by rhetorical relations, the author argues that, based on its aspectual semantics, an aspect marker indirectly influences temporal relations in two ways: First, it specifies a defeasible rhetorical relation, which in turn determines a temporal relation; second, it sets up a temporal constraint to be obeyed by the temporal relations specifid by the rhetorical relations which connect the sentences together. Optimization of Temporal Networks under Uncertainty $139 Many decision problems in Operations Research are defined on temporal networks, that is, workflows of time-consuming tasks whose processing order is constrained by precedence relations. For example, temporal networks are used to model projects, computer applications, digital circuits and production processes. Optimization problems arise in temporal networks when a decision maker wishes to determine a temporal arrangement of the tasks and/or a resource assignment that optimizes some network characteristic (e.g. the time required to complete all tasks). The parameters of these optimization problems (e.g. the task durations) are typically unknown at the time the decision problem arises. This monograph investigates solution techniques for optimization problems in temporal networks that explicitly account for this parameter uncertainty. We study several formulations, each of which requires different information about the uncertain problem parameters. |

Temporal Logic in the Talmud $55.78 This book studies Talmudic temporal logic and compares it with the logic of time in contemporary law.Following a general introduction about the logical handling of time, the book examines several key Talmudic debates involving time. The book finds that we need multidimensional temporal models with backward causation and parallel histories. It seems that two major issues are involved: 1 Actions conditional about future actions (Tenayim), connecting with backward causality2 Actions involving entities defined using future events (Breira), connecting with ideas from quantum MechanicsThe book concludes with a general comparative discussion of the handling of time in general law and in the Talmud. Spatial and Temporal Reasoning $301.11 Qualitative reasoning about space and time a reasoning at the human level promises to become a fundamental aspect of future systems that will accompany us in daily activity. The aim of Spatial and Temporal Reasoning is to give a picture of current research in this area focusing on both representational and computational issues. The picture emphasizes some major lines of development in this multifaceted, constantly growing area. The material in the book also shows some common ground and a novel combination of spatial and temporal aspects of qualitative reasoning. Part I presents the overall scene. The chapter by Laure Vieu is on the state of the art in spatial representation and reasoning, and that by Alfonso Gerevini gives a similar survey on research in temporal reasoning. The specific contributions to these areas are then grouped in the two main parts. In Part II, Roberto Casati and Achille Varzi examine the ontological status of spatial entities; Anthony Cohn, Brandon Bennett, John Gooday, and Nicholas Gotts present a detailed theory of reasoning with qualitative relations about regions; Andrew Frank discusses the spatial needs of geographical information systems; and Annette Herskovits focuses on the linguistic expression of spatial relations. In Part III, James Allen and George Ferguson describe an interval temporal logic for the representation of actions and events; Drew McDermott presents an efficient way of predicting the outcome of plan execution; and Erik Sandewall introduces a semantics based on transitions for assessing theories of action and change. In Part IV, Antony Galtons chapter stands clearly between the two areas of space and time and outlines the main coordinates of an integrated approach. Ossification of Temporal Bone $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The temporal bone is ossified from eight centers, exclusive of those for the internal ear and the tympanic ossicles: one for the squama including the zygomatic process, one for the tympanic part, four for the petrous and mastoid parts, and two for the styloid process. Just before the close of fetal life the temporal bone consists of three principal parts: 1. The squama is ossified in membrane from a single nucleus, which appears near the root of the zygomatic process about the second month. 2. The petromastoid part is developed from four centers, which make their appearance in the cartilaginous ear capsule about the fifth or sixth month. One (protic) appears in the neighborhood of the eminentia arcuata, spreads in front and above the internal acoustic meatus and extends to the apex of the bone; it forms part of the cochlea, vestibule, superior semicircular canal, and medial wall of the tympanic cavity. Extending Temporal Logic with OmegaAutomata $93.99 This book surveys the automata theoretic techniques that are required for model checking and satisfiability of expressive extensions of LTL that are used in specification of hardware designs. The motivation for studying these issues was the work done in Intel on a specification language for hardware model checking that extends LTL, later to be named ForSpec. While ForSpec does not include automata as temporal connectives, the backend tool, that handles the translation of ForSpec does. This led to the renewed study of automata connectives, and how to best handle them with alternating automata. Temporal Logic in FiniteState Verification $66.91 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In finitestate verification, model checkers examine finitestate machines representing concurrent software systems looking for errors in design. Errors are defined as violations of requirements expressed as properties of the system. In the event that the finitestate machine fails to satisfy the property, a model checker is in some cases capable of producing a counterexample an execution of the system demonstrating how the error occurs. Property specifications are often written as Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) expressions. Once a requirement is expressed as an LTL formula, a model checker can automatically verify this property against the model. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Hierarchical Temporal Memory $71.7 Hierarchical temporal memory is a machine learning model developed by Jeff Hawkins and Dileep George of Numenta, Inc. that models some of the structural and algorithmic properties of the neocortex using an approach somewhat similar to Bayesian networks. HTM model is based on the memoryprediction theory of brain function described by Jeff Hawkins in his book On Intelligence. HTMs are claimed to be biomimetic models of cause inference in intelligence. Jeff Hawkins states that HTM does not present any new idea or theory, but combines existing ideas to mimic the neocortex with the simplest design that provides the greatest range of capabilities. He stated this is similar to the Palm Pilot, a device he designed that became popular because of its particular blend of old features. Similarities to existing AI ideas are described in the December 2005 issue of the Artificial Intelligence journal. It is similar to work by Tomaso Poggio and David Mumford. Temporal RunLength Encoding $133.82 Volume Visualization has emerged as one of the most active fields in Computer Graphics because of its wide range of applications in various disciplines: earth sciences, medicine and biology. Rendering volume data that evolve along time (timevarying datasets) is one of the major challenges of visualization. This book addresses direct volume rendering of timevarying datasets. Its goal is to contribute to the enhancement of the efficiency of the visualization of timevarying datasets by providing interactive exploration of data through time with moving camera and changing transfer functions. We focus on using compression and optimized data structures and algorithms to manage data efficiently. Specifically, the main contribution is the acceleration of timevarying volume rendering using Temporal RunLength Encoding (TRL) of data. We propose and compare the use of TRL in three different volume rendering strategies: raycasting, 3D texturemapping and splatting. Postmodern Science Fiction and Temporal Imagination $110 Are we living in a post-temporal age? Has history come to an end? This book argues against the widespread perception of postmodern narrativity as atemporal and ahistorical, claiming that postmodernity is characterized by an explosion of heterogeneous narrative “timeshapes” or chronotopes. Chronological linearity is being challenged by quantum physics that implies temporal simultaneity; by evolutionary theory that charts multiple time-lines; and by religious and political millenarianism that espouses an apocalyptic finitude of both time and space. While science, religion, and politics have generated new narrative forms of apprehending temporality, literary incarnations can be found in the worlds of science fiction. By engaging classic science-fictional conventions, such as time travel, alternative history, and the end of the world, and by situating these conventions in their cultural context, this book offers a new and fresh perspective on the narratology and cultural significance of time. |

Spatial Statistics and Spatio-Temporal Data $99.95 In the spatial or spatio-temporal context, specifying the correct covariance function is fundamental to obtain efficient predictions, and to understand the underlying physical process of interest. This book focuses on covariance and variogram functions, their role in prediction, and appropriate choice of these functions in applications. Both recent and more established methods are illustrated to assess many common assumptions on these functions, such as, isotropy, separability, symmetry, and intrinsic correlation. After an extensive introduction to spatial methodology, the book details the effects of common covariance assumptions and addresses methods to assess the appropriateness of such assumptions for various data structures. Key features: An extensive introduction to spatial methodology including a survey of spatial covariance functions and their use in spatial prediction (kriging) is given. Explores methodology for assessing the appropriateness of assumptions on covariance functions in the spatial, spatio-temporal, multivariate spatial, and point pattern settings. Provides illustrations of all methods based on data and simulation experiments to demonstrate all methodology and guide to proper usage of all methods. Presents a brief survey of spatial and spatio-temporal models, highlighting the Gaussian case and the binary data setting, along with the different methodologies for estimation and model fitting for these two data structures. Discusses models that allow for anisotropic and nonseparable behaviour in covariance functions in the spatial, spatio-temporal and multivariate settings. Gives an introduction to point pattern models, including testing for randomness, and fitting regular and clustered point patterns. The importance and assessment of isotropy of point patterns is detailed. Statisticians, researchers, and data analysts working with spatial and space-time data will benefit from this book as well as will graduate students with a background in basic statistics following courses in engineering, quantitative ecology or atmospheric science. |

The Development of Timing Control and Temporal Organization in Coordinated Action $104 This volume examines the development of timing in coordinated action from several different ontogenetic perspectives. Some chapters emphasize the qualitative changes in manifest motor behavior during the early growth years and examine the relation between temporal characteristics of pre- and perinatal movements and goal directed actions with qualitatively different rules of temporal organization. Other contributors stress the developmentally invariant timing characteristics of species-typical and perhaps genetically programmed motor patterns of nonhuman organisms. Also examined is the molecular machinery that generates circumscribed motor patterns with stable temporal characteristics, as well as the reversible influences of peripheral feedback on and the interactions among discrete pattern generators. Despite their basic theoretical differences, both formulations imply the same generic hypothesis: that the temporal characteristics of manifest movement or action are controlled by central agencies acting on the peripheral skeleto-muscular system in a hierarchic top-down mode. |
