What is the average price to buy the rights to the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”?

I am looking to put on a musical at my local middle school and this show seemed like a good fit. However, I wanted to try to figure out how much it would cost to lease the rights to the show before I make a decision.

Musicals – especially well-known musicals – are EXTREMELY expensive – you’re probably looking at something in the thousands of dollars, depending on the location and the size of your theatre.

In the case of this particular show you’ll have to go the Tams-whitmark site (http://www.tams-witmark.com/musicals/cbr.html) and begin the application process – you’ll be asked to fill in a form for with some information and then they’ll get back to you.

Be very careful when dealing with Royalties companies – they have a monopoly over their works and they’re very, very picky about how you treat their “products.” The rules for Musicals are worse than those for spoken plays, and I’ve heard that Tams-whitmark is about the most Draconian of them all. Read the fine print very, very carefully before you commit to anything.
