Why doesnt bus companies put more low liners on,theres supposed to be 1 space allocated for a wheelchair user,yet when wheel chair users try to get on somes buses.They find 2 prams already on,and they cant get on.In my day prams would be folded up,but young people now dont seam to bother.And wheel chair users as left waiting for another bus.So why do bus drivers not leave a space for any wheel chair users.Instead of having to drive off and leave them at bus stop.

At vast expense bus companies have introduced fleets of new low-floor buses. These have often been introduced before the older buses have worn out, so it’s unfair to blame the bus companies for failing to introduce them fast enough. Sadly it is extremely rare to see anyone with a wheelchair actually use one. They are therefore mostly of use to people with pushchairs and older people who find steps difficult. Even then, wheel arch intrusion on low-floor designs means there are fewer seats, which can make life difficult for older people. I must admit I have never seen a wheelchair user turned away because the space was occupied by pushchairs. But then it is so rare to see a wheelchair in any circumstances, this is hardly surprising. perhaps wheelchair users need to make more journeys by bus. If they did, expecting pushchairs to be folded up would be less of an issue.
