How do you remove burn marks from a pan?

I tried cooking chicken for the first time last night and put a little butter in the pan before turning on the stove top. I put the chicken in and cooked it, but I must have left it in too long cause it burned a little on one side.

When I looked at the pan it had some kind of burn marks on it and even though I tried scrubbing it by hand and then put it in the dishwasher I can’t seem to get rid of it.

What can I do to clean it?

When my Great Grandmothers pan got burn marks on it, I was heartbroken! I did not know what to do. I was reading this and I though of the pan in the back of my cupboard and tried them both out! To my surprise they both work great and take all of the burn marks!

Scrub with a non-abrasive scrubber or sponge (the nylon ones work well), not the steel wool ones!

Pickle juice is acidic & could make the steel darken. I would use something like barkeepers friend.. It’s a scrubbing powder, but something that is high alkaline would work. Drain cleaner is like that. They use sodium hydroxide to cut drain crud, but use the liquid kind. Use gloves with it & try just using half & half with water. Pickle juice would clean aluminum pans. The scrub powder you could put on the pan when it is really wet & let it sit for awhile.
