Music Lights
Does anyone know how to set your outside xmas lights to respond to music?
To all those with electrical knowledge! Has anyone else seen the email showing the outside of a house and garden covered in christmas lights that go on and off to music? If so how would you go about setting it up?
Hey you’re just my type of person!!
I do Christmas and Halloween light shows every single year butb I use a DMX Controller linked up to DMX lights.
Now there are 3 chioces… there is Light O Rama, the perfect light show system around. You have a special Light O Rama Software that you can design your light show on. As long as you have the lights you want, thenm you’ll be fine. Once you have programmed you’re light show on the Sequence Editor and you are happy, it is time to bring your lights to life. Depending on which song you ahe chosen during your design, your lights willrun through the light show you designed at the touch of a button.
I am trying to purchase one for this year, but bare in mind, it is very expensive.
Next you have Animated Lighting. This light show system can be a simple Plug and Play or you can get carried away. Animated Lighting sells a mass of different products for different occasions. Take this for example:
The Haunted House in a Box (HHIAB) is a Plug and Play system that turns your house upside as it ransforms it into a Creepy Hanuted Mansion!!
They also sell products for Christmas Time, like wireframe trees that only need a secific Animated Lighting controller to light it up ahve it move in various ways.
The last choice is Light Organ. A very, very simple system that you simply plug your lights into, connect it up to an Audio Output system and WHAM!! You have your very own lights in synch with music.
Oh, I have one more for you. Vixen Lights. This system is very similar to Light O Rama but I would still recommend Light O Rama.

No doubt he’s had to gradually ease out of some of the most defining traits of his original craft throughout his tenure as Marsmobil; though it began as an amalgam of lounge jazz and electronica in 1999, it fully culminates here with a far-removed, fascinatingly wide-ranging set sporting an abundance of tributaries. This is a tour de force of immaculately mind-bending pastoral pop, with an arsenal of instruments at play and only one finger on the trigger. Early album highlight and single “Crazy Colored Lights” utilizes a neat little tactic of segmenting the words of the title in a fleeting vocal harmony, and cycling them repeatedly as an isolated sonic tidbit floating over the rest — the perfect sonic equivalent of a kaleidoscopic image that does much to set the stage for what follows. One of the album’s two guests also shows up on this track in the form of a spoken word interlude by an entity known as the Illusionists, a strangely riveting out-of-left-field segment on a song that has already done much to ingratiate itself. You could swear that Mark Everett of Eels makes an appearance on the equally strong “Moon of Dust,” but as it turns out the song is intended merely as an “homage to Eels,” and is actually that much more impressive for it. At 16 tracks it would be tempting to assume there’d be some filler here, but this masterwork simply unfolds with nary a dull or derivative moment. Pianos and keyboard-driven sounds are the most consistently featured sonic implement, but in many cases they are used to lay the groundwork or simply twinkle at the higher end of the spectrum while other instruments take the spotlight. The lights lower for “Only You,” and while Des Barres shines, the song ultimately misses the mark. The newfound intensity of the group is most evident on “Bright Light,” a glam rock boogie monster that chugs along for a few minutes, before bursting at the seams for a photo finish that, paradoxically, sounds very much like a punk Led Zeppelin. The second half of the LP contains some fine and engaging rockers in “Heavy Hammer,” “Cartoon Princess,” and “Rock Out Claudette Rock Out,” but is in desperate need of a ballad to help with the pacing — ideally one on par with Silverhead’s “Wounded Heart” or “In Your Eyes.” Unfortunately, the weaker final numbers are made all the more obvious by this lacking element, keeping the disc a notch below their debut. 16 and Savaged turned out to be their final studio album, and Silverhead have all but been forgotten. Often, she sounded like she was singing with the weight of the world on her shoulders, but on the simply named 3, she and Qvenild sound like they’re bound for the stars. Lighter and more overtly electronic than Susanna & the Magical Orchestra’s previous work, these songs have a sci-fi glamour and wistfulness to them, as well as a grandeur that suggests vast dark skies filled with twinkling lights. 3 begins with one of its boldest departures, “Recall,” which sets Wallumr? d’s voice adrift on bubbling analog synths, weaving a hypnotic spell broken by huge drums that sound all the more massive compared to the polite percussion on her previous work. “Palpatine’s Dream” is even more striking, a song about Star Wars’ Sith lord made sleek and strangely sexy with electronics that stream by like meteorites and backing vocals by Wildbirds & Peacedrums’ Mariam Wallentin and Susanna’s brother Fredrik Wallumr? d. A Change Is Gonna Come $13.96 Music,” the first song and lead single from Leela James’ first album, bemoans the death of music. She reminisces about Aretha, Gladys, Tina, and Chaka, and asks, “Can we just put the thongs away?” Her argument is flawed and tired. All four inspirations released new material during the early 2000s, and James is the latest in an extended line of artists, stretching from American Idol to any anonymous keyboard lounge on the East Coast, claiming to rescue real music. James should turn off BET and go to a record store: issue solved. The remainder of A Change Is Gonna Come — named after the Sam Cooke song, covered here — isn’t nearly as nauseating, thankfully enough, even if it retains a nostalgic tint. James has the stature of a woman who should possess a squeaky voice, but she sings with demonstrative grit. More importantly, she doesn’t see her inspirations merely as artists to mimic; she sees how they learned from the past and applied it to the present. The past is built upon (if only a little), rather than simply revisited. Kanye West, Raphael Saadiq, Chucky Thompson, and James Poyser are in on the action, giving James the kind of apt support she could’ve only imagined prior to recording the album. There’s plenty of thematic range, whether there are blue lights in the basement, tears on the pillow, sweat on the dancefloor, or sun showers on the porch. A Grand Don’t Come for Free $12.99 Mike Skinner has a problem, and from the sound of it, it’s life-threatening. He opens his second Streets full-length by moaning “It was supposed to be so easy…” as though he’s about to deliver his deathbed confession, the classic tale of a crime gone wrong. Instead, three minutes later, it’s clear what the “it” was: walking down to bring back a DVD rental, taking some money out of the machine, and calling his mother, who he’d just left at home, to tell her he wouldn’t be back for tea. Believe it or not, but that’s just another day in the life of Britain’s favorite bedsit producer cum singer/songwriter. Although listeners may not wonder where he finds his material, they’ll quickly realize that A Grand Don’t Come for Free is just as immediately striking as Skinner’s career-making full-length debut, Original Pirate Material. It succeeds, despite a clear lack of comparable singles, because of its paradoxical concept (and yes, it is a concept album) that a record can be tremendously ambitious even though it charts a very unambitious personality. Skinner’s urban British youth persona is even more fully drawn than before, and this time he delivers a complete narrative in LP form, with characters, conflicts, themes, and post-modern resolution on the closer. He’s sheepish about his utter lack of knowledge about football (and the heavy gambling losses that result from it), unreservedly enthusiastic about his girlfriend early on but later totally disgusted with her (in a blow-up that rivals Dizzee Rascal’s “I Luv U”), not so easily dismissive of a gorgeous show-off in front of him at the kebab shop, and willing to confront anyone who criticizes him for drinking at home until he can set up a row of empty Tennent’s Super cans. Fortunately, he hasn’t reduced the Streets to a comedy act in the process. A Night with Lou Reed $13.98 Lou Reed took a sabbatical from touring in the early ’80s, as he adjusted to married life and broke free of a longstanding drug and alcohol addiction. But the release of one of the finest albums of his entire career, 1982′s The Blue Mask, had whet Reed’s appetite to play in front of crowds again. Just prior to his ’83 follow-up Legendary Hearts, Reed reassembled his fantastic studio band (consisting of guitarist Robert Quine, bassist Fernando Saunders, and drummer Fred Maher) for the concert stage, and played shows at one of his favorite venues, the intimate Bottom Line in New York City. The 1983 home video (and eventual DVD) A Night With Lou Reed chronicles an outstanding set that perfectly captures the feel and energy of this great quartet. The time off the road had obviously recharged Reed’s creative batteries, as he played guitar once again on stage (something he’d taken a break from) and rocked with a passion and focus not seen since his Velvet Underground days. A consistent highlight from beginning to end, individual standouts include such Velvets nuggets as “Sweet Jane,” “White Light/White Heat,” and a gorgeous reading of “New Age,” as well as the then-recent compositions “Women,” “Waves of Fear,” and “Turn Out the Lights.” Also featured are such early solo Reed gems as “Wild Side,” “Satellite of Love,” and “Kill Your Sons” (the latter containing some ferocious guitar work courtesy of Reed), making A Night With Lou Reed an essential addition to any serious Lou Reed fan’s collection. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi |

A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean $9.99 While it still lies much closer to Nashville than Key West (like in the boisterous slide guitar solo that lights up “The Great Filling Station Holdup”), Jimmy Buffett’s A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean does begin to delineate the blowsy, good-timin’ Key West persona that would lead him to summer tour stardom and the adoration of millions of drinking buddies everywhere. “Why Don’t We Get Drunk,” “Railroad Lady,” and “Grapefruit — Juicy Fruit” rightly became crowd pleasers. But Buffett reveals himself a storyteller with the touching sigh of “He Went to Paris,” where a slide guitar appears again to lend a subtle gleam to the arrangement, or in the gorgeous, sweetly sad tale of a passed-away poet’s unlikely posthumous success. It’s in this wide-eyed honesty, as well as the winking sarcasm of the scrambling honky tonker “Peanut Butter Conspiracy” — “We never took more than we could eat/And we always swore if we ever got rich, we’d pay the mini mart back” — that Buffett’s flair for easygoing accessibility really emerges. White Sport Coat has to be considered country and western music; its rambling acoustic guitars, twinges of harmonica, fiddle, and peddle steel will do that. But Buffett himself was a Nashville outcast almost from the beginning, and his southward migration began with this album. “I don’t want fame that brings confusion,” he sings in “My Lovely Lady,” and declares his desire to get out of the Music City rat race for the more temperate climes and crab meat of the Florida Keys. Once there, the songwriting ingredients drifting through White Sport Coat and other early LPs caught the Caribbean breeze and really took off.
