How do I get our 4 month old kitten to stop chewing on everything?

She chews on everything. She jumped up on my son’s train table and chewed through his crane cord. She chews stuffed animals, wires, anything she can sink her little teeth into. I have tried spraying with the water bottle, saying no, clapping. Is there something I can do to prevent this? She has kitty toys but she seems to enjoy what she is not supposed to have most. She was rescued from an animal shelter so we had no idea that this was going to be an issue when we got her. Please help. I have read kittens for dummies too…. Nothing on chewing- is this normal?

Kittens start getting their adult teeth at around 4 months old, and they often begin chewing on things because their gums hurt. Take a clean face cloth, knot it and damp it with water, then put it in the freezer to chill. Chewing on that will help relieve painful gums. Alternatively, buy her some soft rubber toys to chew on.

Cover electrical wires with cable trunking and spray something citrus scented to deter her from chewing items you want her to leave alone.

Be patient, she’s only a baby and should have all of her adult teeth within the next month or two.
