When does my child go from nursery to infants?
My son will be 5 in march next year. I have been told today that he goes up in january 2010. is this right? he will still be only 4 but nearly 5. will this be full time school?
Yes it’s right, my son started in a September when he was 4 – his birthday was in August which meant he was the youngest in his year. I could have held him back to start in the January but he was ready for school – he’d taken to spending his time at nursery with his head in books. So he went and was 4 and did fine. He did well in education (at an inner city London school in a so-called deprived area) and is now off at university. I wouldn’t worry about it. Reception class isn’t much of a leap anyway.
