Is it necessary for ME to get a Boostrix shot to cover my unborn baby?

I am planning on having a baby in the next two years and my doctor suggested that I have the Boostrix shot now to cover the baby for diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough. I cant find any information to support this and my girlfriends are telling me i’ve been given incorrect advice. Can someone who knows help please?

Yes, you should get the booster shot. Babies can’t get the shot until they are about 2 months old, so from 0-2 months they are unprotected. It’s important for you to be protected so you don’t infect the baby if you get exposed. The vaccine won’t hurt you..nothing to worry about.
I am planning to get pregnant in 2010 and am planning on getting my booster shots when I go to the doctor in 2009.
