What is the best saddle blanket for my horse?

I know you sort of have to know the horse’s needs, but my horse is about 15hh and my current saddle blanket is just cotton. I am going to competitively barrel race soon, but I don’t know if I should invest in a barrel racing pad or not. I need breatheable material that conforms to her body well. Any suggestions?
